I am a Proud Member of the Board and am involved in recruiting Speakers to present at our conferences on various topics of interests and benefit to the Health, and Recreational Park's Profession.
After many years of contributing conferences and workshops for METRO it is now time for others to also volunteer their services and expertise in the field to empower other professionals with knowledge to better serve and provide quality of life to the community.

Serving on the MPH Advisory Board Committee now a second term as Chair of the Board for the MPH/DrPH Program is truly an honor...
The group is responsible in helping the educators with insights, ideas, and suggestions on best practices for the students in conquering health disparities in the urban and immigrant communities in Brooklyn New York.
I always say "it begins first in knowing the history of the communities, their diverse cultures, and the customary routines that actually frame an individual's lifestyle patterns, which ultimately become the blue prints in tracing potential health risks factors".
The advisory group consist of health and education experts from the community that lead successful programs and organizations, whom can contribute to solutions in closing the gaps preventing healing and promote empowered and healthy educated communities within our urban and immigrant population in Brooklyn.
If you have any suggestions or comments please feel free to email me or write in the guest book. Thank you.

Public Health
Brooklyn, New York
Overview
As
one of only 125 academic medical centers across the country, SUNY
Downstate has four colleges: Medicine, Nursing, Health Related
Professions, and Graduate Studies. The M.P.H. Program joins these noted
schools to graduate highly trained and community-minded health
professionals engaged in public health. The SUNY Downstate M.P.H.
Program is housed in the medical center’s Department of Preventive
Medicine and Community Health of the College of Medicine. The program’s
faculty includes nationally respected leaders in public health who have
distinguished themselves through teaching, research, and service.
Located in the heart of Brooklyn, SUNY Downstate offers students the
opportunity to live, study, and work in one of the most diverse,
dynamic, and vibrant urban environments in the world. Students
graduating from this program can expect to understand and deal with
many issues facing public health professionals in diverse communities
throughout the world.
The MD/MPH Program
Medical
students at SUNY Downstate can earn a Master of Public Health degree
while at the same time earning their MD degree. Some students choose to
complete the MPH by taking summer courses starting before the first
year of medical school. Others take a year off between the third and
fourth year of medical school to complete the MPH. Either way, the MPH
gives a physician the power to do more.
Our
program focuses on the health of immigrant and urban populations.
MD/MPH students receive priority for selection for the fourth year
medical school elective, Health Care in Developing Countries. The
student may choose to complete the MPH in one of five core areas:
- Biostatistics
- Community Health Sciences
- Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences
- Epidemiology
- Health Policy and Management
Doctor of Public Health
The entering DrPH student must have completed an MPH degree or
equivalent degree that includes coursework in the five core disciplines
of public health: epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health
sciences, social and behavioral health sciences, and health policy and
management. Previous experience in public health is desirable.
Completion of the DrPH Program requires a total of 42 credits: 30
credits of required course work including fieldwork and 12 credits of
dissertation, which would include public health research and/or
practice. The DrPH Program maintains the MPH Program focus on urban and
immigrant health while greatly expanding the opportunities of students
to develop broad and deep competence as public health practitioners.
